Travel Agent Welcomes New Direct China Route

The announcement of a direct Air New Zealand service from Auckland to Shanghai has been welcomed by one of New Zealand’s largest travel agents.

Flight Centre general manager Jeremy van de Klundert said the route would not only be a real positive for New Zealand tourism, but also a chance for New Zealand travellers to fly directly to what has become a hugely popular yet inexpensive destination.

“China is one of our biggest growth destinations at the moment, with people fascinated in a country that only recently opened itself up to the world again.”

Mr van de Klundert said the introduction of the service could well lead to special deals to the Asian supercity, which New Zealand travellers should be on the look out for.

FCm Travel Solutions general manager Christian Casbolt said the corporate travel agency was also excited about the new service, as it increased flying options for business travellers to one of New Zealand’s most important markets.

The direct Auckland - Shanghai service is due to start later this year.
