PRESS RELEASE
Holiday Shoppe Launches New Travel Magazine
Auckland, 4 April. New Zealand’s longest established retail travel brand, Holiday Shoppe, today launches its own
quarterly travel magazine.
Called on location the quarterly glossy is available in Holiday Shoppe stores throughout the country and at 68 pages is
the largest free retail travel magazine in New Zealand.
This ambitious project is unique in many aspects and is far from being ‘just another travel magazine’, according to
Charlotte Porter, Holiday Shoppe Marketing Manager.
“Our customers want more out of travel than a trip to Sydney for shopping or to the Pacific Islands to only lie in the
sun, they want to experience the destination and its people and that is what on location is about,” she says.
“Our writers bring stories directly from locations around the world that encapsulate the spirit of travel and give a
real traveller’s perspective on destinations. On location digs deeper than the usual tourist sights and tours into the
people and culture, delivering a read reflecting exactly what Holiday Shoppe strives for its customers – an
unforgettable experience. There’s even a sealed section for some added intrigue.”
Holiday Shoppe franchisees from around the country also feature strongly in the magazine sharing their knowledge and
expertise, as well as their favourite spots on the planet.
The first issue, Autumn 2006, features off the beaten track in India, time out in Thailand, on top of the wall in China
and out of Africa in the sealed section. Writers include Tracey Mehrtens, on location editor; Louise Sneddon, on
location news editor; Greg Ward, regular on location contributor and Libby Middlebrook, television reporter.
“The launch of on location adds value for Holiday Shoppe customers as a resource to help ensure they have the best
possible experience on their travels as well as offering an interesting and informative read at the same time,” Ms
Porter says. “It’s also the perfect travel companion for customers to read on the plane or while relaxing at their
destination - wherever in the world it may be.”
