Tribute to Late Freedom Air General Manager Takes Off
A special tribute to Freedom Air’s late general manager will take its first flight tomorrow.
On Friday 31 March, Freedom Air’s new Airbus A320 OJO will take off wearing a special decal dedicated to Wayne Dodge, who was GM of Freedom Air from 1997 - 2004.
The decision to name the Airbus in Wayne’s honour came about as the result of a staff competition, where an overwhelming number of Freedom Air employees indicated they wanted to use the new plane as a mark of respect for Wayne.
Mr Dodge was a popular general manager who gained the admiration of colleagues and rivals alike. He lost his battle with cancer in May 2004.
Freedom Air Sales and Marketing Manager Rachel Gardiner says the plane dedication is a fitting tribute to Wayne, who is today credited as a founder of the value-based airline model in Australasia and played a major part in the success of Freedom Air in its 10 year history.
OJO is the fourth of Freedom Air’s new Airbus 320s, completing the replacement of the entire fleet.
