Auckland Airport property agreement signed
Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) today announced another commercial property agreement it has signed recently. Auckland Airport will build a new $1.3m childcare centre for Lollipops Educare.
The centre, catering for 100 children, will be constructed in the airport's designated recreation area and fits into the wider airport masterplan released last week.
Airport general manager - property, Nick Ansley, says, "With over 10,000 employees on-airport, the current childcare facilities do not provide for growth. This new centre will provide a bright, fun and educational environment for children in the airport community."
The current childcare centre has capacity for around 50 children.
Lollipops Educare licensee, Jo Parsons, says, "Lollipops is committed to providing a high standard of education and care. We believe this is achieved by working in partnership with parents, employing quality educators and providing a stimulating learning environment.
"We are working closely with AIAL to ensure this 'flagship' facility will meet the needs of the expanding community and be an asset to the airport as it emerges as a 'city within a city'. We look forward to continuing our long term business relationship with AIAL and being part of the exciting growth at Auckland Airport."
This property announcement follows three others recently: an expansion to the Fliway Logistics warehouse; and the development of the first two office/warehouses in the new north airport commercial zone - for New Zealand Van Lines and Expeditors International.
The childcare centre will begin construction in May, and is due for completion in December.
