The Broadband Battle Continues

The Broadband Battle Continues, as Annette Presley Takes Her ISP Slingshot to the Towers of Telecom.
As the industry & media furore surrounding alleged monopolistic & prohibitive broadband internet trade practices threaten to become "a priority" for Prime Minister Helen Clark’s government, Annette Presley founder of leading ISP Slingshot will take her protest directly to the office doors of Telecom - Wellington today (Thursday March 2nd).
The sharp speaking Presley certainly knows what it’s like to take on the might of Telecom. Having spent more than 5 years managing a start-up, experiencing a second pregnancy & almost $1million in court costs "on principle", during a long running legal battle with the giant telco before finally reaching a successful confidential settlement in 2005…the self – made entrepreneur & queen of the internet is at it again.
" When it comes to broadband it is important that the public understands that Telecom are feeding us crumbs" says Presley, who believes the people of New Zealand are deprived of the essential opportunities that an affordable & efficient high-speed internet service can provide.
To highlight this problem, Annette Presley & a group of protestors will be handing out hundreds of loaves of specially produced Slingshot bread as a graphic demonstration of the fact that Telecom is making too much "bread" from ordinary Kiwis.
Presley continues " It’s a fact that Telecom is continuing to rip off New Zealanders by claiming to have a broadband service for one dollar a day. Its just a joke - the monthly datacap is ridiculous & the average user would spend over $100 a month on this plan with Telecom."
Slingshot has been offering broadband for $1 a day for the last 6 months with a data cap 15 times better than Telecoms’ offer. It’s just yet another example of this corporate monolith trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
The Prime Minister has already acknowledged New Zealand’s broadband woes in her opening statement to Parliament & I feel passionately that a the public needs to understand the issue. As Telecom currently controls broadband in New Zealand, I am taking our message directly to them today at lunchtime."
Annette Presley will be beginning her protest action at 12pm midday outside Telecoms offices in 49-55 Tory Street, Wellington.
To further support the message more than 35.000 loaves of free Slingshot bread will be distributed throughout New Zealand this week to schools, universities & suburban areas to highlight the fact that Slingshot saves you bread, and that Telecom is only giving Kiwis crumbs.
