Natural products industry leader Rob Shaw has been awarded the sole 2006 ‘Individual Award for Outstanding Contribution to the New Zealand Natural Products Industry’.

The award caps a distinguished career to-date within the New Zealand natural products industry including Mr. Shaw’s recent appointment to the Australia/New Zealand Joint Interim Expert Advisory Committee on Standards for Therapeutic Products.

At the Natural Products Annual Gala Dinner held on Thursday 16 February at the World of Wearable Arts Museum in Nelson, Mr. Shaw was presented with the Award by Ron Geiger, Chair of the Executive Board of Natural Products New Zealand in front of 110 industry peers.

Mr. Shaw who contributes much of his personal time to assist the industry says “the award was a complete surprise and one that I am humbled to receive. My interest is in helping this wonderful industry develop and grow.”

Mr. Shaw, who was closely associated with writing the Dietary Supplement Regulations in 1985, is Technical Director for New Zealand company Healtheries. He has been with the 100 year old company for the last 20 years.

NPNZ Executive Director Michelle Beckett says “Rob Shaw has contributed a vast amount of time and expertise over the past 25 years to assist the progression of the New Zealand industry and it is fitting that his contribution be recognized with such an award.”
