Sealegs Receives European Certification

Sealegs Receives European Certification

Auckland, 21 February 2006: Listed marine company, Sealegs Corporation Limited (NZX:SLG), today announced it has received European CE approval on its 5.6 metre amphibious rigid inflatable boats (RIBs)

Sealegs Chief Executive David McKee Wright says “gaining CE approval means we now have certification to sell our amphibious boats into the 25 European Union member countries, including the UK. The CE approval also allows us entry into the European Economic Countries and Territories not already in the European Union. This represents an additional 29 countries and territories.”

The rigorous CE certification process required some design changes to the Sealegs amphibious 5.6 metre boats. However the investment in making the modifications is offset by the large international market opportunity which CE approval represents.

Sealegs is now building all of its 5.6 metre amphibious RIBs to CE certification levels which means that New Zealand and Australian customers will also benefit from the higher approval level.

For the six month certification project, Sealegs engaged the New Zealand office of the international CE Proof organisation who are the world’s leading consultancy for the CE Recreational Craft Directive.
