The CanWest decision to advance the screening of Bloody Mary quashes the right to legitimate and free protest
Family Life International is outraged at the unbelievably arrogant, insensitive, and confrontational decision by CanWest
to advance the broadcast of the highly offensive Bloody Mary episode of the South Park cartoon series.
CanWest will now insult Catholics on free to air television on Wednesday 22nd February (tomorrow night) by screening
Bloody Mary over two months ahead of schedule.
Despite the claims of CanWest; this is a highly calculated bullying tactic on their part and it will simply invite the
anger of many New Zealanders.
This move is intended to quash the freedom of ordinary New Zealanders who wanted to exercise their democratic right to
legitimate peaceful protest in an attempt to stop this grave offence from being broadcast in New Zealand.
This move also shuts down legitimate debate about freedom of expression relating to this issue.
CanWest knew that their hurtful actions and unbelievable arrogance was beginning to outrage more and more Kiwis every
passing day, and this move shows that they are now fearful of the impact that such outrage will have upon their network.
This move is an attempt to silence a growing tide of anger at their irresponsible conduct and their abuse of true
freedom of expression.
The protest website: http://www.stopc4.org.nz will now alert New Zealanders to the names of advertisers who financially support CanWest and allow them to broadcast
in this country.
We have received an extra ordinary amount of feedback from people who will now be boycotting advertisers who support
CanWest.
CanWest is simply helping to foster religious intolerance with their irresponsible actions.
