Better broadband isn't coming - it's here already
The fastest, lowest priced broadband services aren't coming soon - they're here already with TelstraClear in many areas of Wellington and Christchurch.
TelstraClear's InHome HighSpeed 200MB package, on TelstraClear's own network, offers home phone line rental and broadband with download and upload speeds of 2Mb/s for only $61.90. The newly 'reduced' Telecom package will offer 256 kilobits per second (kbps) download and 128 kbps upload speeds - for $74.75.
TelstraClear's Head of Consumer Markets Steve Jackson says that when a direct comparison of Telecom's new offerings is made with TelstraClear's existing packages in Wellington and Christchurch, TelstraClear still offers the best deals for customers in those areas.
"TelstraClear's InHome broadband packages are still faster, better and cheaper than the competition. We have made this statement because recent discussion about Telecom finally lowering its broadband prices may be confusing to customers who are already getting the best services around."
"If you are in the Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch areas - the best deal is still with TelstraClear on an InHome phone and broadband package. You can even add digital TV on the same bill for the only true Triple Play offer in New Zealand," he says.
All TelstraClear InHome HighSpeed internet packages offer 2MB upstream speeds - the fastest on the market, which is great for sending photos and e-mails with attachments. Telecom's upload speeds will range from 128 kbps to 512 kbps.
Mr Jackson says that until the New Zealand market is opened to real competition these better services and prices will only be available in Christchurch and Wellington.
"We hope that the current government review will allow TelstraClear to extend these faster broadband services to the rest of New Zealand."
