Hyundai hits Manukau City

Hyundai continues its march across New Zealand’s car landscape with another dealership opening in Manukau City this week.

The Hyundai flag was hoisted outside Kilburn Hyundai at 686 Great South Road on February 1, with a grand opening featuring the entire Hyundai range on February 11th.

Owner of Kilburn Hyundai, Brett Kilburn, said the opening signals the beginning of an exciting relationship between his established used car sales company and one of the fastest growing car companies in the world.

The Kilburn name has been synonymous with quality used car sales in the Auckland region for 25 years when Brett’s father Colin started with a small yard in Mt Eden in 1981. Brett Kilburn took over the business in 1987 with the company’s base today in Glen Eden and Albany.

Through television advertising Brett Kilburn has become known as the car dealer who “stakes his name on it” when it comes to the quality of his vehicles. He said it is something that has held the business in good stead in a very competitive industry.

To mark the grand opening Kilburn Hyundai will be offering unbeatable deals on all new Hyundai vehicles sold over the first three weeks of opening.

“We will be offering two years or 30,000km free scheduled servicing, free on road costs, $200 free fuel and will pay the first year’s registration, so it will never be a better time to get into a Hyundai,” said Brett Kilburn.

People attending the opening also have the opportunity to go into the draw to win a custom made long-board. Hyundai New Zealand is a prime sponsor of New Zealand surfing events nationally.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manger Philip Eustace said the company had been looking for a suitable dealer to compliment Hyundai’s strengths and to carry the brand into the fast growing Manukau City region.

“We were highly impressed with Brett’s established reputation for excellent customer service, and his on-going commitment to his customers and his product, he makes an ideal choice for us”he said.

He expected Kilburn Hyundai to replicate the success other dealerships were enjoying around the country.

“We expect more good news stories as people switch on to the Hyundai message of safety and reliability at a good price.”

Opting for Hyundai as a new car dealership was a simple choice for his company, said Brett Kilburn.

“I was highly impressed with the number of reports coming out on the brand’s reliability and resale, both here and overseas, so it was not a difficult decision to approach them.”

Kilburn has invested heavily with Hyundai in ensuring customers are treated to a high quality experience when they enter the premises. Considerable thought has gone into converting the 2500 square metre building into a 12 bay service facility and show room.

Brett Kilburn attributes a big part of the successful fit out to the appointment of dealership manager Dave Bonniface. He brings with him over 25 years’ experience in new car dealerships and was attracted to the job because of the “huge opportunities” that exist for the Hyundai brand.

“We have a workshop-showroom that is designed specifically for that purpose. People can sit and see their car being serviced while they enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and we will be doing absolutely all servicing in-house.”

Philip Eustace said Hyundai was in a massive growth phase that was happening globally. With its extensive range of models the brand was on track to achieve big things here in New Zealand as well.

“There are some exciting things happening this year, with several new models coming out in the next few months, and the opening of Kilburn Hyundai could not have been timed better,” he said.

Brett Kilburn said retail figures showed people from the Manukau City region were travelling reasonable distances to purchase Hyundai vehicles, and would welcome the opportunity to buy closer to home.

“Figures indicate Hyundai have about 5 percent of the market locally, and we see this likely to grow strongly once we are established here.”

Brett Kilburn said all the models represent excellent value for money and the Tucson was easily the best value four-wheel-drive on the market today.

“I have staked my name on all our cars sold, it is something our customers believe in, and I am completely confident about doing the same with Hyundai,” he said.
