One Meat & Wool NZ electorate to be contested

One Meat & Wool New Zealand electorate to be contested

Northern North Island Director Tom Mandeno has been re-elected unopposed to the Meat & Wool New Zealand Board for a term of three years, after nominations for two electoral districts closed yesterday. Mandeno was first elected to the Board in 2004.

As a result of this, only one position on the Board will be contested in the March 10 2006 election, that being the position of Northern South Island Director vacated by Colin King, who was elected to Parliament as the MP for Kaikoura at last year’s General Election

Two nominations have been received for that electoral district. They are Andrew Fox of Amberley and Peter Reveley of Ashburton.

Returning Officer Warren Lampp of electionz.com said the election for the Northern South Island electoral district would be conducted by postal and internet ballot, with voting papers, and further information about the candidates, to be sent to registered electors on February 17 2006.

Election Day is Friday March 10 2006 and only registered electors can vote.

Mr Lampp said voter registration forms could be obtained by calling the Election Hotline, and must be returned by 5pm on Friday February 10 2006.

Any queries are to be directed to the Returning Officer on the Election Hotline 0508 666 336.

Directors elected to Meat & Wool New Zealand Limited are also appointed as Directors of the New Zealand Meat Board
