National Bank Young Farmer to Drive Away in a Ford Courier

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 13 January 2006

Ford New Zealand will continue its support of the annual National Bank Young Farmer contest, presenting the winner of the prestigious competition with a brand new Courier Ute.

Ford supplies a brand new Courier Ute as part of the first prize package, and also provides vehicle support to organisers over the six months of the competition. The Transit Van and two Courier Utes on loan to organisers help move equipment and transport officials around different venues.

"A Ford Courier is the perfect prize vehicle – for just as the champion will need to be, the Courier is synonymous with hard work and will have proven ability in a variety of rural situations," said Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Jen Ingleby.

"Ford New Zealand is a company with a proud rural heritage, and this is the eighth year we have sponsored the National Bank Young Farmer Contest – it is an obvious way to demonstrate our continued support of the rural sector," she said.

Ford will have a visible presence at all National Bank Young Farmer contest sites around the country.

"At regional finals, local dealers display the latest and greatest new and commercial vehicle offerings from Ford, while at the final itself we set up a four wheel drive course which offers interactive demonstrations," said Mrs. Ingleby.

Popular Ford vehicles on display at the various National Bank Young Farmer regional rounds include 'Built Ford Tough' Courier and the brand new BF Falcon and SY Territory range.

“Farming has always been at the backbone of the New Zealand economy, and I would like to think that we have been able to contribute to this through providing a reliable product that meets the needs of the farming community,” added Mrs. Ingleby.

"Our ever increasing range now means there is a Ford vehicle available for every possible application in the rural lifestyle – a claim that few other manufacturers can match."

The National Bank Young Farmer Contest begins with a series of District Elimination rounds which commence in late January.

Fifty-six Regional Finalists are then selected to compete for seven places in the Grand Final (to be held in Greymouth from 5-8 July), with the winner driving away in the new Ford Courier.

"Ford New Zealand and our dealer network are proud to once again be involved in this exciting and challenging competition, because as a company we value and recognise excellence," said Mrs. Ingleby.
