Meat & Wool New Zealand wins international award

An international award recognising excellence in market support and promotion has been awarded to Meat & Wool New Zealand.

Meat & Wool New Zealand won the international section of the Shokuhin Sangyo Shinbusha's Food Industry and Technology Merit Awards for promoting healthy New Zealand beef, lamb and mutton in the Japanese market.

Meat & Wool New Zealand's Chairman Jeff Grant says the company is thrilled to have won the international award, which highlights the positive reputation New Zealand beef and lamb continues to build in the Japanese market.

"Shokuhin Sangyo Shinbusha is one of Japan's leading food industry publishing companies and winning this award is an honour for the company and a credit to the New Zealand meat industry. This is a welcome boost to our efforts to raise the profile of New Zealand meat in the Japanese market."

"Our main focus in Japan has been to increase the reputation and demand for New Zealand beef and lamb. We've worked hard to ensure Japanese consumers are aware of the healthy attributes of New Zealand grass-fed product. New Zealand has developed a reputation for a safe, high quality and natural product," he says.

The Shokuhin Sangyo Shinbusha awards have been offered since 1971, with the international section introduced in 1992.

Previous winners of the international section award include the United States Meat Export Federation (2000) and Meat & Livestock Australia (2002, 2004).
