KPMG appoints new chairman
Alan Isaac, Chairman of KPMG New Zealand, has announced his retirement from this position, to take effect from 31 March
2006.
“I will have been chairman for 10 years, during which time the firm has gone through significant change and experienced
some tremendous achievements. However, while it has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead the firm, I believe the time
is now right for a change of leadership, to continue to drive KPMG’s ongoing success,” says Mr Isaac.
In light of this, Mr Isaac says he is very pleased to announce that the KPMG Partners have elected Auckland Managing
Partner, Jan Dawson, as his replacement.
“Jan has been with KPMG since 1981 and has a wealth of experience in all areas of our business. There could not be a
better person for the job,” says Mr Isaac.
Mrs Dawson graduated from the University of Auckland, and after three years with a midsized firm in London, joined KPMG
in Vancouver specialising in the financial services industry.
In 1986 she returned to KPMG Auckland and became a Partner in 1987. Mrs Dawson is the lead partner for a number of
financial services clients, and also provides specialist advice in corporate governance, treasury and due diligence
engagements.
In addition to Managing Partner Auckland, she has held various management roles with KPMG New Zealand, including KPMG
National Risk Manager, Auckland and Wellington Board Chair and member of the National Financial Services Committee.
Mrs Dawson says that while she is looking forward to the challenges of her new role, she believes it will be business as
usual for KPMG in New Zealand.
“The firm is robust and all five offices are performing well. I am keen to focus on the future and consider ways in
which we can continue to meet the demands of the New Zealand environment and provide our clients with the best possible
service and advice,” says Mrs Dawson.
Mr Isaac will work closely with Mrs Dawson in the following months to ensure a smooth transition of leadership roles. He
will remain as a Partner in the firm for a short period after Mrs Dawson takes over formally on 1 April 2006.
