Winning Rugby World Cup Creates Winning Opportunity for Auckland, New Zealand….
Congratulations to the New Zealand Rugby Union and the presentation team!
“The 2011 date for the event gives us a new target to have Auckland ready,” said a delighted Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Barnett.
Current targets are for Auckland’s motorway network to be completed by 2014-15. “We should now be encouraged to see what can be done to bring the completion date forward,” suggested Mr Barnett.
“Let’s get it 100% right.”
With economic impacts assessment that there will be 60,000 visitors, a $400 million boost to the economy and millions of world television viewers, it makes pragmatic sense to bring forward our plans by 2-3 years to ensure Auckland’s infrastructure is in place and working for Auckland and not holding it back.
