James Mok Appointed Creative Director FCBNZ
‘World famous in New Zealand’ author takes charge of high level creative team
AUCKLAND, 26 October 2005 – FCB New Zealand today announced the appointment of one of New Zealand’s leading advertising innovators, James Mok, to the position of Creative Director.
The architect of a number of iconic campaigns for well known brands in New Zealand, James Mok was a key creative influence behind L&P’s ‘World famous in New Zealand’ initiative. In addition James Mok and Matt Simpkins, who is also now at FCB, were the creatives behind DB Draught’s highly successful ‘Patron Saints/Beer Heaven’ campaign, for which they composed the famous slogan ‘that man deserves a DB.’ The campaign was widely credited with turning around long-term volume decline for the DB Draught brand. James Mok has also carried out campaigns for other leading brands such as Sony, BMW, Primo, Lion Red and Pump.
According to Brian van den Hurk, General Manager of FCB New Zealand, “Outstanding creative work starts with a solid strategic overview, and James Mok is one of the strongest creative strategists in the country. He leads an exceptional team of talented creatives which also includes industry veterans such as Matt Simpkins and Murray Watt.”
James Mok said “FCB brings to market one of the most dynamic and well resourced creative departments in New Zealand. As the Creative Director I will be leading eight different teams boasting a breadth of senior talent with both international and local agency experience.”
James Mok joined FCB earlier this year following a long period at Generator Bates where he was Creative Director and subsequently Strategic Director. A co-founder of Generator in 1995, James Mok also held senior creative positions at Saatchi & Saatchi.
