Alfa Romeo Brera Puts Sexy Spin Into Australian

Alfa Romeo Brera Puts Sexy Spin Into Australian Renaissance

Alfa Romeo has provided a sneak preview of the sexiest new car launched in Europe this year, the Alfa Romeo Brera, at the Australian International Motor Show.

"The Alfa Romeo Brera is part of the renaissance of the Alfa Romeo brand here in Australia," says David Stone, the General Manager of Alfa Romeo in Australia. "The Alfa Romeo renaissance in Australia driven by exciting new models, sharper pricing and fresh passion in our marketing."

Alfa Romeo flew in a Brera coupe directly from Milan to be the centerpiece of the Alfa Romeo stand at the Sydney International Motor Show.

"The Brera won't be launched in Australia till mid-2006, but this stunning sports car is a true indication of the future model direction of the Alfa Romeo brand renaissance," says Mr Stone.

The Brera's astonishing exterior and interior design is combined with two highly responsive drive trains that promise superb ride and handling characteristics.

The engines for the new Brera breathe Alfa Romeo spirit and passion.

The Brera in Australia will be available with a choice of a super responsive 2.2 litre 140kW engine and a high performance win Phase JTS V6. Like the upcoming 159 sedan, this range topping V6 engine will come standard with the all-new Q4 all wheel drive for optimal driver control. A six-speed manual as well as a full six speed automatic will complete the picture.

Mr Stone said improvements in design, engine choice and pricing were turning passionate Australian drivers back to Alfa-Romeo.

"In July we launched the new Alfa 147, with a fresh design and improvements in ride and handling. And despite increasing competition in the prestige European hatchback segment, sales of the 147 remain very strong. We have sold over 4,000 units of the 147 in Australia since 2002," he says.

"The renaissance will continue later this year with the anticipated return of the sporty three door 147 Ti and the first of a range of diesel powered Alfa Romeo models to arrive in Australia, the 1.9 litre 147 JTD."

"The ever beautiful 156 is experiencing its own renaissance. The recent price repositioning at $44,990 for the 121kW JTS manual sedan has sparked a dramatic rise in popularity over the past month. This price point is enabling a new generation of drivers fall in love with the 156's distinctive looks and sporting pedigree.

"And while sales in 2005 will continue to improve for Alfa Romeo, next year will witness the most significant change in our model range since 2002. Our renaissance will be emboldened in the second quarter of 2005, with the anticipated arrival of the all new 159 sedan models," Mr Stone says.

The 159 range will include the 2.2 litre JTS 4 cylinder and Twin Phase JTS V6 models as well as a powerful diesel version.
