Ford And Territory Continue Strong Performance In September
10 October 2005
Ford's award-winning Territory continued to dominate the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment contributing to a solid second place finish for Ford Motor Company in overall sales in September.
"Ford Territory was yet again the most popular large SUV in the country- a position it has held ever since it was launched in New Zealand in June 2004," said Managing Director, Richard Matheson.
Since its inception the Ford Territory has won numerous awards including 2004 National Business Review Car of the Year, 2004 NZ Autocar Car of the Year, 2004 Sunday Star Times Car of the Year, Wheels Magazine Car Of The Year 2004 and the 2004 Australian Design Award.
And it has continued in 2005 with NZ Autocar awarding the Ford Territory the "Best Crossover Vehicle" and the Ford Fiesta "Best Small Car".
"The two fastest growing segments in New Zealand this year have been large SUV and small vehicles. For Ford to be honored with the best overall vehicle in both of these categories is a real testament to our efforts to bring the best Ford products from around the world to New Zealand."
"It is easy to see why the Territory has done so well in New Zealand, quite simply it is the perfect vehicle for the Kiwi lifestyle whether you are towing a boat, heading off-road to your favourite campsite or taking your kids and their mates to a rugby game,"
"People who drive Ford Territory fall in love with it - it is a vehicle you get very passionate about very quickly."
"When it comes to small cars, Kiwis appreciate the European styling, German engineering, and exciting driving dynamics of the Ford Fiesta, which is a small car with large car capabilities."
Ford concluded the third quarter in second place in both passenger and commercial new vehicle standings, and in second place overall.
