Electronics retailer opens new full store in
Masterton
The growth of Dick Smith Electronics in New Zealand continues this week, with the opening of a full company store in Masterton.
The 350 square-metre store, at 235 Queen St, is in the central retail area and replaces a distribution outlet.
Dick Smith Electronics New Zealand general manager Stu Meadows said that the move to a full company store in Masterton was warranted.
“We’re very pleased with the performance of the Dick Smith Electronics brand in Masterton,” he said.
“We’ve had a highly successful distribution arrangement with a local retailer, Hedley’s Home and Office, but needed to expand, and moving to a full company store was the best way to do that.”
The new store is open this week but will be officially opened this weekend.
Hedleys’ will use the extra space it now has in its store to expand its range of books, including a specialist children and teenager service.
Last week, Dick Smith Electronics doubled its retail space in Napier with the opening of a new store on the corner of Wellesley and Kennedy Rds, replacing the Emerson St store. In August, the company’s only Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse store in New Zealand, in Hamilton, doubled its retail space.
