Sarah Sandley accepts new senior role at APN

APN New Zealand National Publishing has announced the creation of a new senior management position.

One of New Zealand's leading media executives, Sarah Sandley has been appointed as General Manager of Advertising Sales and Marketing.

Ms Sandley, currently Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Magazines, will be responsible for advertising sales within APN New Zealand's National Publishing division's portfolio of brands. These include the New Zealand Herald, Herald On Sunday and The Aucklander. She will also maintain a watching brief over the Magazines division.

APN New Zealand National Publishing CEO Ken Steinke says, "We are delighted Sarah has accepted this position. She has been an outstanding success as CEO of NZ Magazines, presiding over a period of continued growth and expansion in the past 18 months. Her new role means she will now provide us with a key focus and direction across the wider division.

"We believe that with our portfolio of brands, we are uniquely placed to offer advertisers a comprehensive combination of reach and affordability. Sarah is the right person with the right skills to help our clients realise their business objectives through our publications."

Ms Sandley has an impressive career, having held the position of General Manager, Fairfax Magazines; General Manager, Gordon & Gotch (NZ) and Marketing Director of Gordon & Gotch (Australia).

But her achievements are not limited to the business arena - she also holds a Ph.D in English from Victoria University, Wellington and speaks three languages.

She has a strong interest in sport, and has represented both England and New Zealand at table tennis. In addition, she has served on a number of boards.

Ms Sandley says she is excited about her new role. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my 18 months with New Zealand Magazines, and look forward to broadening my brief at APN and taking on new responsibilities in the National Publishing division."

Ms Sandley will take up her position on October 10th. She will continue to report to Mr Steinke.
