William Grant & Sons Collects Biggest Gold Medal Haul by Scotch Whisky Distiller at 2005 International Wine & Spirit Competition
Independent family owned distillers, William Grant & Sons, has scooped nine gold medals, including seven ‘Best in Class’, at this year’s International Wine & Spirit Competition, the industry’s leading awards event. The gold medal haul is the most by any Scotch whisky producer.
In total William Grant & Sons scooped 25 medals: nine Gold, 14 Silver and two Bronze for its range of Scotch whiskies, including key brands Glenfiddich, Grant’s, and Clan MacGregor. The distiller is also nominated for ‘Distiller of the Year’, with the winner to be announced on 1st November at a banquet in London.
“We are delighted to receive so many gold medals for our flagship whiskies, in particular the Glenfiddich 12 year old, which is the world’s favourite malt whisky,” says Kerry Loughran, Senior Brand Manager New Zealand.
The International Wine and Spirit Competition is the premier competition of its kind in the world and aims to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.
William Grant & Sons’ Malt Master, David Stewart said: “We are particularly pleased that this year we received gold medals for Grant’s, Glenfiddich and The Balvenie - our three core whisky brands. It really is a great result for our entire whisky portfolio. Earlier this year we collected a record number of awards at the International Spirits Challenge and now we have delivered another exceptional result.”
