New CEO for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)


Thomson Legal & Regulatory (TLR) Announces New CEO for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)

Thomson Legal and Regulatory (TLR), a Thomson business (NYSE :TOC, TSX: TOC), today announced that Tony Kinnear has been appointed its CEO for Thomson Legal & Regulatory Australia and New Zealand (TLRANZ), effective 24 October 2005.

Kinnear will oversee Thomson’s Australia and New Zealand legal and regulatory operation, including Australia’s Lawbook, ATP, CPD, Westlaw Australia and Lawpoint businesses, and New Zealand’s Brookers and various magazine offerings.

Prior to this appointment, Kinnear was CEO of Seeing Machines Limited, an Australian hi-tech company leading the development of “vision” based interfaces between computers and humans. Kinnear has also held non-executive director and CEO roles at SoftLaw Corporation. Under his direction, SoftLaw underwent a period of significant development, including expansion into international markets and a listing on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Kinnear’s experience also extends to a 7-year career with LexisNexis in managerial roles, including CEO/Regional Director-Asia Pacific. During his time there, he launched the first set of electronic products in Asia, led the development of online services, established leading trade journals and a professional education division, initiated and negotiated the strategic partnership with Legalco, and successfully negotiated a number of other investments and acquisitions.

As CEO, Kinnear will report to the President and CEO of Thomson Legal & Regulatory International (TLRI), Mike Boswood.
