Summer cruise presents a new outlook on Aotearoa
A New Zealand cruise is a unique and hassle-free way to see the country when you want to avoid difficult holiday roads and crowded resorts.
And now P&O Cruises is offering a great summer holiday bonus - see New Zealand by sea, save an incredible 45 per cent on fares and sample Melbourne's wonderful shopping and culture as well!
New Zealand's favourite cruise ship Pacific Sky is completing two voyages to ports around The Land of the Long White Cloud this summer - one from the Victorian State capital to Auckland and one in reverse. On each cruise Pacific Sky will sail the East Cost of New Zealand, visiting a selection of main ports.
Pacific Sky departs Melbourne on November 27 for a 10-night, six-port cruise to Milford Sound, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Picton and Napier, arriving in Auckland on December 7 to begin her inaugural summer South Pacific season. She departs Auckland for the return deployment at the height of the school holidays on January 18.
Passengers can spend a full day in port at each city visiting friends and relatives, or laze the day away aboard Pacific Sky making the most of her features and facilities. Fares start from as little as $1,340 for a four berth inside cabin.
"On both cruises you visit at least four New Zealand ports within four days, without the added stress of driving or flying from port-to-port" says P&O Cruises New Zealand manager Shannon Currie.
"It's not only a great option for getting a completely different view of our country in a short time frame - you also get the opportunity to enjoy the great cosmopolitan city that is Melbourne.
"And with our current offer of a 45 per cent saving on fares, cruising has never been more affordable," Mr Currie says.
Family fares are also available on the 10-night January 18 sailing from Auckland to Melbourne via Picton, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Milford Sound and Burnie in Tasmania.
These fares - for a family of four comprising two adults and two children younger than 13 years - start at $4,754 for an inside four berth cabin.
The fares do not include the cost of getting to or from Melbourne but airfares on the route have never been as competitive.
Mr Currie says the summer holiday sailings represent extremely good value.
"Remember, fares include accommodation, all main meals and the huge range of wonderful entertainment Pacific Sky is renowned for. There are on average 40 different organised activities offered on-board Pacific Sky every day - she's not known as New Zealand's favourite cruise ship for nothing.
"And ship-board life at sea is never dull - you can do it all or nothing at all. The choice is yours."
Pacific Sky is a floating city in herself, generating enough electricity to power a city the size of Dunedin.
She has three pools, a spa, large gym, ship-top jogging track, a 600-seat show-lounge, cinema, casino, two restaurants, alfresco grill, nine bars and lounges, nightclub, library, 24-hour pizzeria, steakhouse under the stars and fully supervised children's clubs.
