Woosh agrees interconnection with Telecom

Woosh Wireless and Telecom New Zealand have signed an interconnection agreement, paving the way for Woosh’s roll out of phone services.

Woosh’s Commercial and Legal Manager Nick Clarke said the agreement concluded several months of negotiation between the two companies.

“It’s been an intense period of negotiation, with give and take on both sides to achieve something we both can live with,” he said.

Mr Clarke said that the terms of the agreement remained commercially confidential.

“This will enable Woosh to offer customers a range of competitive phone services.”

The agreement covered local calling, mobile, national and international toll calls, said Mr Clarke.

Woosh was pleased to have been able to achieve an agreement on commercial terms in negotiation with Telecom and without any regulatory intervention, he said.

Interconnection is the means by which network operators pass calls to one another so that subscribers on any given network can telephone the subscribers of other networks or providers.
