Voting In Fonterra Elections Underway

Voting for the Fonterra Shareholders' Council and Directors' Remuneration Committee elections opened yesterday with voting packs on their way to all Fonterra shareholders.

Returning Officer Warwick Lampp said the voting information packs are already with some shareholders and the first votes have been received.

There are elections for the Shareholders' Councillors in Ward 13 Hauraki and Ward 17 South Taranaki. In addition four candidates are competing for two seats on the Directors' Remuneration Committee, which is elected by a nationwide vote of Fonterra shareholders.

This year there is no election for the Fonterra Board of Directors as the three sitting directors, Greg Gent, Earl Rattray and Jim van der Poel, were elected unopposed.

On-line secure voting is again available this year for both elections though Fencepost. Postal voting and fax voting can also be used.

Voting closes at 12 noon on Monday 10 October 2005 and results will be announced by the Chairman at the Annual Meeting in Whangarei on Tuesday 11 October 2005.

Any queries regarding the election should be directed to the Returning Officer on the Election Hotline 0508 666 446.
