For business: skills, energy, trade, tax, politics

Media release

Top of mind for business: skills, energy, trade, tax & politics

The NZ Herald's Mood of the Boardroom survey reveals a consistent set of concerns with those in Business NZ's most recent political survey, says Business NZ CEO Phil O'Reilly.

"The consistency between the two surveys allows for a fair degree of confidence about the issues that are top of mind for business," Mr O'Reilly said.

"Concerns about skills and productivity and the availability and affordability of energy, a desire for more free trade agreements, and the high priority on faster economic growth are common to both surveys.

"The Mood of the Boardroom survey also picks up a strong desire for a reduction in government spending, with a related desire for lower tax rates.

"While the 'political choice' results speak for themselves, the Mood of the Boardroom results overall provides helpful information to whatever parties are the Government after 17 September," Mr O'Reilly said.
