Central Otago Pinot Noir Grower Triumphs at Bragato Wine Awards
Lowburn Ferry Pinot Noir 2003 produced from grapes grown on the Lowburn Ferry Vineyard by Roger Gibson has triumphed at the Bragato Wine Awards by winning three of the major trophies announced at a celebratory dinner in Gisborne on Saturday 27 August.
The Lowburn Ferry Pinot Noir scooped the trophies for champion Pinot Noir, champion Red Wine and Champion Wine of Show. The wine was from the first vintage harvested on the Lowburn Ferry Vineyard.
Other trophy winners from the Bragato Wine Awards were:
Champion White Wine – Tim Turvey and Helma van den Berg of Clearview Estate Vineyard for Clearview Noble Harvest Chardonnay 2004
Champion Classical Red Table Wine – Lisa Dayish of Bridge Pa Vineyard for Bridge Pa Vineyard Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2004
Champion Sauvignon Blanc – Jeff Hammond of Comely Bank Vineyard for Kim Crawford Flowers Sauvignon Blanc 2005.
