Hilton Auckland Shines At The 2005 Culinary Fare
The Hilton Auckland showed their dominance at every level of culinary expertise at the 2005 annual Culinary Fare held last week August 21-23 2005. The Award Winning Hotel was the recipient of medals in the restaurant, service, bar and coffee categories at the Fare.
Highlights included a Silver medal for the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ team in both kitchen and restaurant; overall winner of the ‘NZ professional Waiter of the Year;’ and gold in the Venison open class.
Sam Anderson, Montrice Shumpert and Lisa Raymond demonstrated the essence of White restaurant by receiving silver for ‘Restaurant of the Year.’ Headed by new Executive Chef, Bernard Bernabe, the team from White had superb guidance to learn from and reflect upon following Bernard’s ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award at last year’s Culinary Fare.
Following the Award, Executive Chef Bernard Bernabe stated “this is only a small reflection of the talent of the chefs and waiting staff at White. I am confident that my team will continually demonstrate the very best. Sam, Montrice and Lisa constantly provide the finest cuisine and service not just at competition but everyday at White.”
Added to the success of White was the overall Gold award to Glenn Farnham crowning him ‘NZ’s Professional Waiter of the Year 2005.’ This award illustrates the impeccable attention to service at White guaranteeing every guest an outstanding dining experience.

To receive both individual and team awards in categories ranging from barista, cocktail mixing, waiter service and cooking, shows the diversity of talent amongst the staff at the Hilton Auckland”, said John Ingram, General Manager, Hilton Auckland. “To see the passion, excitement and celebration amongst the staff is an absolute thrill.”
