North Island 400 kV Grid Upgrade Project: Registrations of Interest - 26 Aug 2005
Transpower's proposed North Island 400 kV Grid Upgrade Project broadly consists the construction of:
(a) a 200km long, 400 kV AC double circuit, steel lattice tower, overhead transmission line from the central North Island (at Whakamaru) to a point just south of Auckland
(b) a 9km long, 400 kV AC double circuit, underground transmission cable from an overhead line to underground cable transition station on the outskirts of Auckland to a sub-station located in the suburbs (at Otahuhu)
(c) associated sub-stations works consisting the construction of:
* a new 400/220 kV
sub-station at Whakamaru, central North Island
*
altering/upgrading an existing 220 kV substation at Otahuhu
in south Auckland
* a new overhead line to
underground cable transition station, south of
Auckland.
