Bank Appoints Second Commonwealth Games Ambassador

25 August 2005

Bank Appoints Second Commonwealth Games Ambassador

Hard on the wheel rims of Olympic gold medal cyclist Sarah Ulmer, another top New Zealand sportswoman has joined Bank of New Zealand as an Ambassador for next year’s Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Lizzie Igasan, the New Zealand Black Sticks vice-captain and New Zealand hockey Player of the Year, was instrumental in the Black Sticks recent win in the Champions Challenge tournament in the United States. In addition to helping her team-mates bring home the trophy, Igasan won the Player of the Tournament title.

Like Ulmer, Igasan has worked for Bank of New Zealand. She was training to work in the Bank’s foreign exchange team at Auckland International Airport last year, but her banking career was cut short when she was selected to represent New Zealand at the Athens Olympics.

Bank of New Zealand is a Principal Sponsor of the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team and the Ambassadors, including Sarah Ulmer and Lizzie Igasan, will be involved in a range of activities to help promote the Bank’s support of the team.
