Putting Kiwi expertise on the international map
On the 17th August, Kiwi bungy jumper AJ Hackett will do a Guinness-accredited world record SkyJump* from Macau Tower, and the jump will be open to public from the 18th onwards. Taking off from the outer rim of Macau Tower 233m above ground, it is an astounding 41 metres higher than the only other SkyJump in the world at Auckland's Sky Tower.
Working closely with AJ Hackett, New Zealand-owned engineering consultancy Beca developed a scheme for the jump both at the Macau Tower and previously at the Sky Tower (Beca also engineered both the towers). AJ Hackett International will operate the Macau SkyJump, using the technology invented here in New Zealand by Jump Technics Ltd.
*SkyJump at Macau takes guests on a 20-second flight over the Macau landscape, and will be the highest jump in the world, followed by the only other SkyJump in the world at Sky Tower Auckland where the world's highest guided bungy jump record was created in late 1998.
