Price War Good News For Consumers
One of New Zealand’s largest travel retailers is welcoming the latest price war between airlines, reiterating the need for ongoing choice in the skies and its flow-on benefits for consumers.
All the major budget airlines flying Trans-Tasman out of the South Island have now released $39* fares for flights between New Zealand and Australia since the announcement that Jetstar would be flying to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Coolangatta from Christchurch, commencing 1 December.
Flight Centre general manager Jeremy van de Klundert says the arrival of Jetstar, and the subsequent $39 airfare offer from both Freedom Air and Pacific Blue is great news for the consumer.
“While we may not see $39 airfares every month, expect to get some great deals across the Tasman in the coming year,” he said.
Since Pacific Blue set up its base in Christchurch 18 months ago, South Island residents have continued to enjoy great deals, but like Pacific Blue, Mr van de Klundert sees Jetstar bringing increased choice to people throughout the country.
