Skilled payroll people get a chance to shine
Friday the 2nd of September is National Payclerk Day, when payroll professionals are recognised for the hard work they do, often behind the scenes. As part of the day's celebrations, organiser Comacc is looking for the year's most valued Payroll person.
Comacc, a company which produces integrated payroll software, has run the awards for several years now, heightening awareness of payroll professionals and the vital role they play in the workplace. Managing Director Steve Nathan believes payroll staff have the toughest jobs at times and can have a huge impact on the organisations they work in.
"As a supplier of payroll software solutions, we see a broad cross-section of the individuals who work in payroll," says Nathan. "These are outstanding people, but sometimes the very nature of the work means they are not recognised."
This year, Comacc is looking for original, humourous entries that show how valued the nominee is. The entry form asks, "Do you know an individual who shows flair and dedication in their work who is worthy of recognition?"
Steve Nathan says it's an opportunity for payroll people - and their colleagues - to have a bit of fun in what is usually a very serious job. "We have an official entry form, but we're really looking for creativity in the entries," says Steve. "That means, if they have to send in poems, stories, photos or even a video to prove how much they value their payroll person, we'll accept it."
Excellent prizes are up for grabs including a Mystery Weekend for two for the Payclerk of the Year and runner up prizes of travel vouchers, body products and magazine subscriptions.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.comacc.co.nz or by emailing Anita at anita@comacc.co.nz
