Former All Black Awarded Segway in AA Rewards Swipe Out

Former All Black and Orthopaedic Registrar Jeremy Stanley (son of All Black legend Joe Stanley) was yesterday presented with a Segway scooter, which he won in the AA Rewards Swipe Out Competition.

Dr Jeremy Stanley was delighted when he heard about winning the ‘funky’ Segway, if not a little sceptical at first!

Dougal Swift, AA Membership General Manager, presented Dr Stanley with the funky Segway on Wednesday at the North Shore Hospital, where he is based.

“He couldn't wait to get his hands on the new Segway. I can see him zipping around the hospital wards on it already! It is an absolute pleasure to present such a high profile sportsman with one of only four Segways being given away in the AA Rewards Swipe Out draw,” said Mr Swift.

Dr Stanley admitted that it did “take a bit of convincing” to get him to believe he had won such a funky prize.

“I will certainly be having fun with it!” he said

Jeremy Stanley has been an AA Member for 13 years and won by swiping his AA Membership card at the BP 2Go Station in Mt Wellington.

The Segway scooter - which only has two wheels - works on a balancing gyro, allowing the operator to stand upright without falling. Leaning forwards or back propels the Segway into action.

The range of prizes in the AA Rewards Swipe Out draw includes Suzuki Swifts, Retro Electric Scooters, Segways and Trips to New York. Prizes can be won by AA Members who have collected AA Rewards Points at any one of 50 program partners including many of New Zealand’s leading brands.
