National Party skills policy promising

National Party skills policy promising
24 July 2005

The National Party released its Tertiary Policy today. National stated it ‘will remove funding restrictions on trades and apprenticeship funding and encourage more trade training and apprenticeships by paying more for high-quality, high skills qualifications’.

National is to release a detailed trades and skills policy in the future.

“The direction of National Party towards skills policy in New Zealand is distinctly promising” said Darel Hall Executive Director of the Industry Training Federation.

“The general thrust of National’s announcement is for higher numbers tempered by higher quality.

“The ITF welcomes the announcement today and looks forward to the detailed trades and skills policy in coming weeks”, said Darel Hall.
