New Bealey Speight’s Ale House Opens in Christchurch
Christchurch’s Bealey Ave will be the latest address for Southern men and women to have a pint of their favourite brew when the Bealey Speight’s Ale House opens on July 28th 2005.
The largest Speight’s Ale House to date also includes three-star accommodation and 65 rooms, making it the ideal place for sports teams and large groups to stay a while.
The Bealey Speight’s Ale House is situated at 263 Bealey Ave, Christchurch and is co-owned by Tane Norton and son Richard Norton, together with Max Bremner.
Tane Norton is an ex-All Black captain and president of the New Zealand Rugby Union and his son Richard played professional rugby in Japan.
Max Bremner is an ex-Canterbury cricketer who has been involved in the hospitality industry for a number of years and owns several other on-premise outlets.
“It’s great that we can bring our different skill sets together to build on the success of the Speight’s Ale Houses elsewhere around the country,” says Max.
“The interior of the Ale House is in keeping with the original Speight’s brewery in Dunedin, with its high ceilings and iron light fittings.”
“Bealey Speight’s Ale House is kitted out with lots of leaners and bar stools so that people can meet with a few mates and enjoy a handle of Speight’s,” Max says.
The full Speight’s range of beers will be offered on tap: Speight’s Distinction Ale, Old Dark, Pale Ale, Porter and Pilsner and of course New Zealand’s number one most popular beer; Speight’s Gold Medal Ale.
Furthermore the limited release Speight’s Chocolate Ale, which was produced for the Dunedin Chocolate Festival, will be available on tap at the Bealey Speight’s Ale House.
A combination of speciality malts and real chocolate is used to create Speight’s Chocolate Ale, which has 5.0% alcohol volume and is the latest offering from the historic Speight's Brewery in Dunedin.
The menu at the Bealey Speight’s Ale House offers a selection of quality, hearty southern fare all matched to the great Speight’s beers on offer.
Trading seven days a week, the Bealey Speight’s Ale House will be open to the public from 10am to 11pm daily.
The Bealey Speight’s Ale House follows the original Speight’s Ale House in Dunedin, the Shepherds’ Arms Speight’s Ale House in Wellington, the Cardrona Speight’s Ale House in Auckland, the Queenstown Speight’s Ale House, the Timaru Speight’s Ale House, the Albany Speight’s Ale House and the recently opened Napier Speight’s Ale House.
