Coal miners’ talks

July 14, 2005

Coal miners’ talks

The EPMU will take part in mediated talks with Solid Energy tomorrow over the long-running coal miners’ dispute.

National secretary Andrew Little said that the union had put a proposal over the weekend aimed at resolving the dispute over the national coal miners’ collective employment agreement.

“That proposal was modified by the company this week,” Mr Little said. “That modified proposal gave our members enough comfort to take part in tomorrow’s meeting, called by the mediator, but not enough to withdraw all industrial action,” he said.
