Even If You Can Beat ‘Em - Join ‘Em

Even If You Can Beat ‘Em - Join ‘Em

Two telecommunications executives who started out so far apart that they had to settle their commercial disputes by arm-wrestling have come together in one company.

Three years ago TeamTalk and competing mobile radio company MCS had a $200,000 dispute. Rather than resorting to lawyers and the court system TeamTalk Managing Director David Ware took the unusual step of challenging his counterpart MCS CEO Allan Cosford to an arm wrestling match to settle the matter.

TeamTalk’s Mr Ware lost. But their unusual way of settling the dispute caught the attention of the international media and was covered extensively by networks including CNN and the BBC, and featured in newspapers and magazines from Germany to the US. Just last month a re-creation of the arm-wrestle featured on a Japanese game show.

Three years down the track the former foes have become allies. TeamTalk announced today that Mr Cosford has left MCS to join the management team at TeamTalk.

“Mr Cosford joins TeamTalk to work in a strategic role enhancing the company’s distribution strategies,” Mr Ware said.

“It seems where TeamTalk’s concerned, even if you can beat ‘em – join ‘em!”
