Charles Willmot IPENZ Director - Engineering
Charles Willmot has been appointed the new Director-Engineering for the Institution of the Professional Engineers (IPENZ).
His role at IPENZ is pivotal in raising the profile of the engineering profession to the public and decision makers, and growing the membership. Charles is also keen to work with related industries nationally to assist in producing sector codes of practices and standards.
Prior to joining IPENZ Charles was Senior Advisor for the Ministry for the Environment where he was responsible for the implementation of the New Zealand Waste Strategy and development of the wastewater programme.
Charles is an environmental engineer with a background in waste management. He was Manager of Water and Waste at Wellington City Council for over 10 years, has worked as a consultant engineer in the sector and instigated the Waste Management Institute (WasteMINZ) whilst the Public Health Engineer at the Ministry of Works early in his career.
