Kiwis Quick To Get Sticky With It

-- Less than three weeks left to design the next Post--it Note --

Kiwis have been quick to put pen to paper in 3M New Zealand's "Design the Next Post--it Note" competition, and with the contest closing on 24 June there are only three weeks left to enter.

>From the silhouette of Christchurch Cathedral and geysers in Rotorua, to gumboots in Taihape and waterfalls in Whangarei, some very creative designs have been sent from all over the country, each reflecting something unique about the region they come from.

All New Zealanders are being asked to design the next Post--it Note as part of the brand's 25th birthday celebrations. Designs can be of any shape, size, colour and pattern, but should reflect the innovators' local region in some way -- whether it's a town icon or a depiction of the landforms -- the options are endless.

The best design will be professionally made by 3M, so the national winner can give their creation to friends and family, and have lasting proof of their winning innovation.

Helen Bosley, Product Manager, 3M Office Markets, says the organisation has been impressed with the entries received so far and looks forward to seeing what further creations Kiwis come up with.

"It's been fantastic to see the innovative designs so far, as well as the regional pride reflected in all of them," says Miss Bosley.

"Even though the Post--it was designed in 1980, it has been evolving ever since. A challenge like this is a very fitting, and fun way, to include Kiwi's in the anniversary celebrations."

Ten regional winners from across New Zealand will be selected in late June 2005 by a panel of judges who will be looking for characteristics of creativity, optimism and light--hearted celebration of something great about the entrants' region.

>From those ten winners, who will each receive a 3M and Post--it prize pack worth $200, one New Zealander will be awarded the grand prize -- a digital camera valued at $800. The national winner will also have their new design brought to reality by 3M, in the form of 500 genuine Post--it Note pads.

To enter the challenge people must send their creation and a short description of the design and reason behind it -- along with their name, address and phone number -- to 3M's Design the Next Post--it Note Competition, PO Box 37-116, Parnell, Auckland by Friday 24 June 2005.

Entrants can either send in a mock--up of their design, or they can send a photo of how they envisage their design would look as a finished product.
