Colt Plus offers added versatility
Arrival of Colt Plus and a high performance version, the Colt Plus Ralliart adds two important new models to the
Mitsubishi’s small car line up this month.
With an additional 300 mm body length, the Colt Plus brings a new dimension to the range, providing bigger luggage space
without sacrificing any of Colt’s popular features.
Introduction of the bigger model also brings with it an all new power tailgate, one step folding seats and a versatile
cargo floor.
“Colt Plus will significantly expand the potential market for the Colt range,” Peter Wilkins, Mitsubishi Motors general
manager of sales and marketing said. “It straddles the small and medium hatch markets and offers buyers of vehicles like
Jazz and Civic another option.
“The new model has the all new 77 kW alloy engine announced just a few months ago for the standard Colt and has a floor
mounted selector for the INVECS III CVT automatic transmission.
“Colt has proved popular but there is no doubt that a much greater market potential exists for this model with its
increased luggage space.
“Added to that is the great new power tailgate. It is opened or closed by pressing a button on the ignition key. A
power-lock mechanism automatically engages the tailgate catch and pulls it firmly shut to prevent the vehicle being
driven with the tailgate not properly closed.
“Another feature on the new car is the one step folding rear seat. This is an excellent development. Pulling a lever in
the luggage compartment folds the 60/40 split rear seats flat, creating a spacious luggage area with a flat floor.
“The versatility of the cargo area can be further enhanced by height adjustment of the floor if required.
“We are also introducing to the range the Colt Plus Ralliart, an intercooled turbo charged two wheel drive model. This
is a smart sports package with a very sharp performance profile.
“This has a 1.5 litre 4G15 engine, 40 percent more powerful than the standard engine and is fitted with an INVECS III
Sport Mode six speed CVT transmission. “There’s no doubt it will appeal to a younger buyer, and we believe there is a
market.
“The Colt range has appeal to a wide section of the market and these two new models will help increase its sales profile
still further.”
