Student Creativity Newspaper Advertising Award

NAB Sponsors Student Creativity Newspaper Advertising Award

The Newspaper Advertising Bureau is delighted to announce the winner of its Student Creative Newspaper Advertising Awards, which saw over 61 quality entries from advertising students of Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Media Design School (Axis Adschool), Elam School of Fine Arts, and Massey University (Wellington).

First place was awarded to Leon Hayward and Stefan Tarr of Axis Adschool. Finalists included Shenila Maharaj and Amy Thexton, AUT; Jacinta Tu and Alecia Caldwell, Elam; Emma Riordan, Massey; Jono Aidney and Carolyn Stebbing, AUT; and Tamryn Baumgarten, Elam. A special highly commended for long copy went to Kate Rylatt and Jessica Neale from AUT.

All finalists along with the winning work will be sponsored into the Singapore Crowbar Awards and Australasian Young Gun Awards. Last year the NAB sponsored work received Best in Show for Crowbar, and silver and bronze gongs at Young Guns. The winning work will also have the opportunity to run in NAB member newspapers.

Judges for this year’s awards included Steve Back (Creative, Colenso), Paul McGreevy (Creative, Lowe Worldwide), Cory Chalmers (Creative, M&C Saatchi) and Wendy Lawn (Creative, DDB).

The student’s creative work will be displayed at the Axis Awards in the foyer of Sky City on June 10th.

Winning entries will also be available shortly for viewing on www.nabs.co.nz.
