Stagecoach and Workers Make Progress

Published: Fri 3 Jun 2005 08:39 AM
Stagecoach Auckland and the Stagecoach Combined Unions have been in mediation over the last two weeks.
Good progress has been made on the remaining non-monetary issues, however the parties have remained some distance apart on the term and the pay rates.
In an endeavour to achieve a settlement based on a pay rate of $16 as sought by the Combined Unions, the mediator, Keith Handley, has suggested a new concept based on the following:
A two year term
A top pay rate of $16.00
A lump sum payment
Changes in the way in which overtime is paid.
Because this is a new approach it will require a comprehensive consultation process with employees. The parties have agreed to a timetable for this process which will involve a presentation from both management and union representatives.
PLEASE NOTE
THERE WILL BE NO DISRUPTION TO ANY STAGECOACH BUS SERVICES
