Hyundai at Autobarn in Whangarei

Yet another new Hyundai dealership opens this Queens Birthday weekend, as Northland benefits from the growth of the brand.

Whangarei is home to the blue and white logo, at Autobarn Hyundai Port Road

Autobarn Hyundai occupies a prime site just opposite the Warehouse carpark, at 69 Port Road in a purpose-built new sales complex, its unique shape designed for the task.

Autobarn Hyundai opens just in time for the launch of Hyundai's brand new Sonata, the mid-sized sedan which has won praise at motor shows around the world. It will be in the dealership from 1 June.

"It's an exciting brand and an exciting time to come aboard with Hyundai," says Dealer Principal Kelly Illerbrun.

"We are looking forward to the new Sonata, which will add extra interest to what is already a strong range.

"SUVs are a big seller in Northland and we are impressed with all three in the Hyundai lineup, the Tucson, Santa Fe and Terracan.

"Plus of course there's always strong demand for small cars like the Getz and Elantra, for shopping, for running the kids around town and so on," said Mr Illerbrun.

Autobarn is a subsidiary arm of I.C Motors Vehicle Services, of which Kelly Illerbrun is Managing Director. Rounding out the management of Autobarn Hyundai are Directors Henry Belt and David Hodson, and Sales Manager Nigel Adams.

Hyundai's expansion in Northland reflects the continuing huge growth of the South Korean brand in New Zealand and worldwide.

Hyundai sales leapt by 72 percent in New Zealand last year and with more new models coming into the range it has a big future here, says the General Manager of Hyundai Automotive NZ, Philip Eustace.

"Whangarei is another centre where we expect people will be impressed with Hyundai's growing reputation for quality, safety and value for money.

"It's great to have Kelly and Autobarn join the Hyundai family and we look forward to sharing happy times with the people of Northland," Mr Eustace said.
