Prime To Deliver One Hour Of News And Current Affairs From 5:30pm
From 6th June the Holmes current affairs programme will be live on Prime Television at 6pm one hour earlier than the current time slot.
Prime Television Chief Executive Chris Taylor said the move would give viewers an unbroken hour of news and current affairs from 5.30pm.
“Over 120,000 viewers watch our news at 5.30pm each week night getting the information they want a full half hour before the other networks. Now they’ll get their current affairs first too.”
Changes to the early evening line up also include the worldwide hit game show ‘Deal or No Deal’ at 6.30pm followed by the return of the highly successful ‘Sale of the Century’ in an updated format titled ?Temptation.?
By scheduling 'Temptation' at 7pm against the backdrop of two current affairs shows and a soap opera, we are providing an exciting choice for viewers and a platform for the Networks growth.?
Taylor said Prime wasn’t afraid to challenge the conventions around programme scheduling.
“When we launched news at 5.30pm the accepted wisdom was that New Zealanders didn’t want news before 6pm.”
“We were confident they would and we’ve been proven right. We look forward to doing the same around current affairs scheduling.”
“At Prime we’re committed to innovation and believe this is something New Zealander’s welcome,” said Taylor. –
