Aircraft Passengers Have Birds Eye View of New Zealand's Biggest 'Painted Paddock' Billboard
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 26 May 2005
People flying in and out of Auckland Airport will be able to view what is believed to be New Zealand's biggest painted billboard – a 100 metre square 'billboard in a paddock,' which has been commissioned by Ford in support of the All Blacks upcoming battle with The Lions.
The billboard – which is the length of a rugby field, and almost twice as wide - aims to instill national pride in New Zealanders, whilst welcoming The Lions and the Barmy Army supporters to our territory.
Both aircraft passengers and The Lions alike will be under no illusions they have arrived in Ford and All Black land as the painted paddock comes into view. The billboard sports an All Black logo, a Ford oval and the words 'This is our Territory.'
Ford has been a supporter of New Zealand Rugby for more than a decade, and the paddock billboard represents the beginning of an exciting Ford campaign which will invite supporters to show their patriotic pride and passion.
The paddock filling billboard took a day and a half for four men to paint, and might just be visible from space – although no one has been able to verify this claim as yet.
