Construction Starts On State-Of-The-Art Liquid And Hazardous Waste Facility
Nuplex Environmental, Nuplex Industries Limited’s liquid and hazardous waste management division, has started construction on a new $4 million facility at its East Tamaki site.
Once completed the 4500sqm development will provide New Zealand with a world class facility capable of servicing the entire demand of New Zealand's hazardous waste market.
Tony Haycock, spokesperson for Nuplex Environmental, says the new facility will take New Zealand to the leading edge in terms of liquid and hazardous waste treatment.
“We spent several years researching overseas best practice before commissioning the development of the state-of-the-art facility. The technology, mostly produced by local firms, will mean that the facility will exceed local regulations and adhere to latest global standards for the treatment of hazardous waste.
“The new facility will take a significant step forward in the protection of the environment. Technology such as "air scrubbers" has been integrated to clean air before it is discharged. Most of New Zealand’s key manufacturing companies require Nuplex’s expertise in treating and disposing of waste and the new facility will revolutionise how we operate.”
Local challenges for Nuplex Environmental include the fact the company has to handle a large number of different waste streams, unlike typical overseas models where a facility would treat just one or two types of waste.
Construction of the facility will be completed in around six to eight weeks.
