Spectacular Response To Db 'Memorabeerlia' Competition

- Less Than a Week To Go -

Entries in the "Great DB Memorabeerlia Search" have been strong from some regions across the country and with the competition closing on April 30, punters have less than a week to get their entries in.

DB is searching for New Zealand's largest collection of DB beer merchandise as part of its 75th birthday celebrations. Each piece of the memorabilia collection must be linked to a DB product or brand, or connected with one of DB's four breweries (Waitemata Brewery, Tui Brewery, Monteith's Brewing Company and Mainland Brewery).

Georgina Hammond, Communications Manager, DB Breweries, says they have been impressed with the entries received so far, as some very unique pieces of DB "memorabeerlia" have been unearthed from around the country.

"We've received a great range of entries so far. Entries have included collections of old DB glasses, flagons, posters and other merchandise," says Ms Hammond.

"We've also had a great entry from Wanganui which includes a collection of bottle openers from Tui that date back to the 1920s, and a selection of Auckland Harbour Bridge anniversary labels (dated 1959) from bottles of Dominion Bitter and Waitemata Sparking Pale Ale. It's been very interesting to see the change in DB beer labels over the years, and quite amazing to see how people around the country have kept their DB anniversary bottles intact ? in fact some are still unopened!"

The "Great DB Memorabeerlia Search" was launched in February and is being run nationwide until 30 April 2005. Eleven regional winners from across New Zealand will be selected in May, and from those winners an overall national winner will be chosen for the large prize - $500 worth of DB merchandise, and two tour passes to a local DB brewery for a personalised tour. Each of the regional winners will receive $200 worth of DB merchandise.

To encourage enthusiasts with smaller, unique collections to enter, DB will also award prizes for the oldest piece of memorabilia entered in the competition, and the most unusual.

Entrants must send in a photo of their DB "memorabeerlia" collection with their DOB, signature, and a full description and approximate age of the memorabilia to the "Great DB Memorabeerlia Search", PO Box 37 116, Parnell, Auckland, before 30 April 2005. Photos may be black-and-white or colour, but must be on photographic paper. Further information and competition terms and conditions are available at www.db.co.nz.
