Brookers launches productivity software suite for accountants
Today’s progressive accountants are transforming themselves from the book-keepers of old into broad-based business advisors. These innovations in accounting practice are now giving rise to a corresponding change in the information and service platforms required by accountants.
Brookers Ltd, New Zealand’s leading professional and business information supplier, today announced the launch of a comprehensive productivity software solution for accountants that complements Brookers existing professional information services.
The launch cements the establishment of two partnerships formed by Brookers with Hayes Knight NZ Ltd Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, and with Atac Pty Ltd in Australia.
The Hayes Knight product range facilitates the evolution of accounting practices from pure ‘number crunching’ and streamlines their provision of a complete business advisory service.
Hayes Knight NZ is known for its ability to take traditional accountancy skills and apply them in a way that is relevant to modern business practice. Over the years it has developed a number of tools for its own use, which have now been brought together into a suite of products offering accountants considerable productivity benefits.
Hayes Knight NZ director Matthew Bellingham says the alliance with Brookers is a natural fit.
“As a customer of Brookers ourselves, we know the importance they place on developing customer relationships and providing assistance wherever needed. This focus fits squarely with our aim of delivering high-quality solutions to enable accountants to grow their practices.”
In addition Brookers has secured the rights to distribute Insight©, a leading financial modelling software package developed by Atac Pty Ltd in Australia. Insight© is equally applicable to public practice and corporate accounting environments.
Atac provides a range of technology services and products to organisations including banks, financial institutions and accounting firms. Atac supports a customer base in more than 20 countries including the USA, UK, Singapore and Australia.
Atac general manager David Pattison sees the alliance with Brookers as a way to really penetrate the New Zealand accounting market.
“This alliance with Brookers is important to us, as it will assure our New Zealand customers receive first-rate service and support for Insight from a New Zealand company renowned for its customer service and range of business solutions. We’re proud to be associated with Brookers and we’re confident that their local experience and stature will greatly enhance Insight’s presence in New Zealand.”
“Accountants are now realising that they have a lot more to offer their clients,” says Brookers Managing Director, Neil Story.
“They have the ability to do so much more than prepare tax returns; they can provide specialist business advice that can directly improve their clients’ bottom line. We’ve learned from our research that accountants are increasingly pushing basic book-keeping back to their clients to free up time to assist them with more important things like growing their profitability.”
Mr Story concludes: “Our strategic alliances with Hayes Knight and Atac, both significant players in the accounting software sector, means that accountants will now be able to approach Brookers with the confidence that not only can we supply information – we can also provide solutions to help them grow their practices.”
Brookers provides integrated information solutions for New Zealand’s legal, tax, accounting, human resource and business professionals. Brookers NZ Ltd is part of the Thomson Corporation which, with 2004 revenues of $8.10 billion, is a global leader in providing integrated information solutions to business and professional customers.
