Everybody’s doing it

Everybody’s doing it

Your parents are subdividing, your grandma’s renovating and your kids are investing. Everybody knows somebody who’s dabbling in real estate.

Move over Saturday morning sport and Sunday morning brunch. Anecdotally, viewing homes is considered the number one recreational activity on the weekends.

Each year, crowds at The Home Show and The Ellerslie Flower Show grow and niche publications featuring everything from the basic beach bach to designer houses are becoming increasingly popular.

Recognising this demand, The New Zealand Herald is about to launch its newly-renovated Weekend Herald real-estate lift out called Heraldhomes.

The new insert is designed to provide readers with a detailed and informative guide for anyone interested in property, whether buying, selling or just browsing.

New editor Estelle Sarney says Heraldhomes provides readers with the most comprehensive range of real estate opportunities in and around Auckland.

A journalist for more than 20 years, Sarney has a wealth of experience in buying, selling and renovating homes in Auckland. “For anyone interested in the housing market, this a must-read guide,” she says.

In addition to the weekly listings, Heraldhomes has a strong emphasis on human interest stories. It profiles home owners and their experiences - and useful tips - with buying and selling.

There is a Coast and Country section, featuring lifestyle and rural properties, giving you a chance to see how country-dwellers live. There will also be information on maintaining a coastal or rural property, and how to make the jump from city to country living.

A DIY segment, featuring high, mid and affordable examples, includes a weekly renovation story focusing on a different room each week.

With an easy-to-follow layout and a user-friendly consumer information guide to buying and selling provides readers with the opportunity to hear what the experts say and have their questions addressed and answered.

Heraldhomes is being launched to readers on Saturday April 16.
